Our Founder
Dr. Sarah

I'm Dr. Sarah, and I created the Center for Active Minds based on the community's need for evidence-based service for children with ADHD. I conduct evaluations for ADHD and Anxiety, and I am a therapist that works with children with ADHD or Anxiety and their parents.
What really ignited my passion for working with children and teens with ADHD was how much these kids lit up after I was able to show them how much potential they have. I soon found that working with children with anxiety offered me the same reward -- these children who felt isolated and alone were able to do amazing things with some support and changes to their thinking, their feelings, and their environment. I also noticed how frequently youth with ADHD also experienced anxiety symptoms -- these children did not want to act impulsively, or get in trouble at home or at school, but feared that it would happen that day and every day, then getting mad at themselves for being told they had weren't doing enough.
From these experiences, my approach to psychological services includes three main components: (1) helping people align their intentions with their behaviors, (2) validating clients while also challenging them, and (3) working alongside parents, teachers, and significant others — not just the client — to support lasting change.

I am passionate about helping individuals and families gain access to the tools and support they need to thrive. I understand that starting therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I strive to create a welcoming, compassionate, and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves.
I am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work at Florida State University and plan to work toward obtaining my LCSW after graduation. Outside of work, I value creativity, humor, and meaningful connection. I enjoy spending time with family and loved ones, going on walks, watching stand-up comedy. I also love finding fun and creative ways to make people smile—whether that’s baking themed cakes or sharing a new dad joke with my family.

Therapy
Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC)
Addresses: Behavior problems, emotion regulation, self-esteem, peer or parent/child relationships; impairment associated with ADHD and Anxiety
Approach: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Therapy
Ages: 12 through 35

My passion for working with teenage mental health began when I noticed a disconnect between the rise in adolescent anxiety depression, and suicide, and the lack of professionals in the field truly passionate about working within the population. Throughout my work in a variety of different jobs, I began to see just how much this age group thrived with support, proper emotional validation and regulation, and the realization that they were not alone in these feelings. These years can be foundational in the course of an individual’s life as an adult and are often dismissed due to the difficulties that co-occur during adolescence.

Evaluations
Licensed Psychologist (Psy.D.)
Addresses: Behavior problems; I commonly evaluate concerns related to Autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, anxiety, and trauma.
Approach: I offer neurodiversity-affirming evaluations designed to help you better understand how you or your child thinks, learns, and experiences the world.
Ages: 8 months through 18 years
I believe evaluations works best when people feel safe, respected, and truly seen. I take a gentle, collaborative approach - getting to know each person beyond test scores and checklists, and highlighting strengths just as much as challenges. My goal is to provide clarity that feels validating, not labeling, and recommendations that fit real life.

What drives me -- helping people recognize their strengths, and helping them feel good about themselves. When people work with me, they are often looking to address their child's behavior struggles by adapting their parenting techniques, or learning skills to help their child manage their frustration, or learning skills to help their child face their fears. When clients and their parents work on those skills, then my services help clients learn they are not their diagnosis, and they are good, kind, and productive at their core. I LOVE helping people uncover and recognize THAT side to themselves or to their child.
